Sango Elephant Translocation - Zimbabwe
The Savé Valley Conservancy is one of the largest private game reserves in Africa. Located in the South Eastern low-veld of Zimbabwe the Conservancy comprises 750,000 acres of diverse wildlife habitat. The land was initially cattle land and through massive conservation efforts, is home to a plethora of wildlife today. So much so, in fact, that elephant populations have reached a volume that has started to become destructive to the habitat. In order to alleviate the pressure along with repopulating areas where elephant populations have been depleted, 100 elephants were translocated from Sango to National Parks in Zimbabwe.
